Living Bridge UL
During the construction of the Living Bridge UL, I played a key role as the engineer overseeing the on-site operations. I meticulously managed the setting out of the bridge, ensuring precise alignment and positioning of the structure. Collaborating closely with subcontractors, I coordinated the installation of the piles and pile caps, which provided solid foundations for the bridge. My oversight extended to the steel work, where I ensured that all components were fabricated and assembled according to specifications. This collaborative effort was crucial in maintaining the project's timeline and quality standards, ultimately contributing to the successful completion of the Living Bridge.
Thames Barrier
As the engineer responsible for coordinating maintenance works on the Thames Barrier, I led efforts to conduct coating trials along with installation of zinc anodes which provided cathodic protection aimed at extending the structure's lifespan. This involved thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure the safety of all personnel involved. I developed detailed method statements to outline the procedures and best practices for applying the new coatings, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. By collaborating with various stakeholders and implementing these enhancements, we aimed to preserve the integrity of this vital infrastructure while safeguarding the surrounding environment.
Quay Mills
As the engineer overseeing the restoration of the 150+ year-old Quay Mills, I managed a comprehensive project that involved both preservation and modernization. I coordinated the demolition of the existing floors within the mills, ensuring that the structural integrity was maintained throughout the process. This was followed by careful excavation of the new foundations in between the two mills. I also supervised the contractors responsible for constructing the concrete frame of the new build, while simultaneously managing the restoration of the floors in the existing structures. This multifaceted approach ensured that the historical significance of Quay Mills was preserved while integrating modern engineering solutions.
West Kowloon Station
As project manager working on the West Kowloon Station project, I took the lead in managing various waterproofing installations essential to the building’s integrity and longevity. I coordinated the selection and application of advanced waterproofing materials, ensuring they met stringent performance standards. My role involved overseeing the installation processes, conducting quality inspections, and collaborating closely with the main contractor to address any challenges that arose. By implementing effective strategies and maintaining open lines of communication, I ensured that the waterproofing systems were correctly integrated, ultimately safeguarding the station against water ingress and contributing to its overall durability.
HKUST Multi-Purpose Auditorium & Student Resident Development
I worked on behalf of the client to oversee the logistical aspects of the construction projects on campus, ensuring that daily campus operations were not disrupted. In addition to managing the construction activities, I carried out maintenance works to address water ingress issues in the facades, ensuring that the buildings remained watertight and protected from potential damage. I coordinated closely with various contractors on-site, facilitating effective communication and collaboration to tackle challenges promptly. My focus was on minimizing the impact of construction activities on students and faculty while maintaining project timelines and quality standards. By proactively managing resources and schedules, I helped create a seamless integration of the new development into the existing campus environment, ensuring a smooth experience for all stakeholders involved.
The Henderson
As the consultant on behalf of the manufacture of the aluminum feature panels, I played a pivotal role during the design stage by assessing the safest and easiest method of installation of the feature panels. I oversaw the entire installation process, ensuring that they were installed safely while adhering to the project specifications and quality standards. My responsibilities included reviewing shop drawings and method statements to guarantee that all procedures were clearly defined and safe. Additionally, I conducted thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards and mitigate them effectively. By fostering collaboration among the project team, I ensured a smooth installation process that highlighted Zaha Hadid's vision while maintaining safety and efficiency.
